Question
How many people have benefitted from the young persons guarantee by local authority since its establishment, and what was the outcome in each case?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
The Young Person’s Guarantee (YPG) is our umbrella approach to supporting 16-24 year olds in Wales into education, employment or training or setting up their own business. To date, we have supported over 57,000 young people through the Young Person’s Guarantee with more than 8,000 of those engagements leading to employment.
There are five key programmes that underpin the YPG:
• Jobs Growth Wales Plus;
• Communities for Work Plus;
• ReAct Plus;
• Big Ideas Wales; and
• Apprenticeships.
The table below provides the estimated number of young people, by local authority, who have engaged in the YPG since its establishment in November 2021. The data covers Communities for Work Plus, ReAct Plus, Big Ideas Wales and Apprenticeships and is broken down by local authority. An overall number for engagements has been included for Jobs Growth Wales Plus as they do not have local authority data readily available. The latest available data for Jobs Growth Wales Plus is available on the Welsh Government website: Jobs Growth Wales+ statistics: April 2024 to March 2025 | GOV.WALES
