Question
What funding will the Welsh Government provide for a conference on bereavement services, with community organisations sharing insights, delivering keynotes, and hosting interactive workshops focused on improving mental health and support for people affected by grief and loss?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
We have not been approached to support a conference on bereavement services. The Welsh Government has provided £3m in Bereavement Support Grants over the period 2025 to 2028 to third sector providers for the provision of equitable and timely access to high quality bereavement care. We also support and promote the National Advisory Liaison Service (NALS) which ensures a proactive offer of support is provided to people affected by sudden deaths that are unexplained or a suspected suicide.
Best practice is already shared at the National Bereavement Steering Group and through regular meetings with health board bereavement leads and providers in receipt of the Bereavement Support Grant.
