Question
Does the Welsh Government give any annual funding to the corporate joint committees directly and, if so, how much?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
The Welsh Government provided £250,000 to each region in 2021/22 to support the establishment of the Corporate Joint Committees (CJCs). Subsequent funding provided has been £125,000 in 2023/24 and £100,000 in 2024/25 to each region towards the development of Regional Transport Plans and Strategic Development Plans (SDPs), respectively.
In 2025/26, the Welsh Government has agreed to provide up to £200,000 to each CJC to strengthen capacity and governance arrangements; up to £200,000 for each CJC to support the completion of Regional Transport Plans; and up to £400,000 in total between the CJCs to accelerate the preparation of Strategic Development Plans, provided they submit a draft and then a formally agreed Delivery Agreement within this financial year. SDP funding is reliant on these criteria being met.
