Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the plans and expected timeline for extending the pay-as-you-go rail service system to north Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
Transport for Wales will introduce Pay-As-You-Go ticketing on the Wrexham – Liverpool line by May 2026. TfW then plan to extend Pay-As-You-Go ticketing across northeast Wales including on routes to Rhyl and Gobowen over future phases as part of the Network North Wales vision. Further deployment of Pay-As-You-Go elsewhere in Wales will be subject to business case development.
