Question
What discussions does the Welsh Government have with local authorities when major roads under local authority responsibility are closed at short notice, resulting in congestion on nearby motorways and trunk roads?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
When Local Authority roads are closed at short notice due to emergency works, we are not consulted. However, we use our social media channels to ensure the travelling public are notified of possible disruptions to their journey on our strategic road network. The member could approach the WLGA for information on how local authorities monitor the condition of local roads.
