Question
How will the Government reach their target of 100,000 apprenticeships by the end of this Senedd?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership
We continue to invest heavily in the apprenticeship programme. Funding for apprenticeships in Wales has increased from £128m in 2020-21 to £144m this year, despite the fact that ESF funding came to an end in 2024-25.
To support additional starts this year, Medr is also redirecting £4m of its funding into contract delivery and implementing tighter contract management to maximise the number of learners who progress fully through their apprenticeship. This will be allocated to support additional provision in areas which contribute to economic need.
