Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many Welsh farms have registered animals as being vaccinated against the bluetongue virus between 1 July and 1 October 2025, using UK Government data?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
Between 1 July and 1 October 2025, 1,149 separate holdings in Wales submitted returns confirming livestock vaccination.
During that period, 75,583 sheep and 95,333 cattle in Wales were reported as receiving at least one dose of an authorised BTV-3 vaccine.
Bluetongue Virus Serotype 3 (BTV-3) vaccines were licensed for use in Wales from 1 March 2025, consequently there is no data available for 2024.
