Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the Celtic Freeport?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
The Celtic Freeport’s Final Business Case was formally approved by the UK Government and Welsh Government in June 2025. Work is also progressing on the critical multi-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Freeport.
Once the MoU is approved, the Freeport will have access to seed capital funding of up to £25m for critical infrastructure and skills projects. The Freeport is also considering options for a third tax site.
