What strategy does the Welsh Government have in place to expand EV charging infrastructure in rural communities?

Welsh Government has pledged £6m this year to local authorities to fund EV infrastructure across Wales.
Officials are actively scrutinising and challenging the Corporate Joint Committees’ ambitions for EV infrastructure rollout in the four regional transport plans for 2026 onwards.
We engage with a range of stakeholders including local authorities, commercial chargepoint operators and energy providers to understand, and attempt to address, the challenges to installing infrastructure in rural areas.
