Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many of the 2,300 homes constructed through the support of the Development Bank for Wales, as set out in the Written Statement on 18 November 2025, were social homes?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
Social housing provision is delivered mainly through our Social Housing Grant.
The main purpose of the Wales Residential Property Fund (referenced in the Written Statement) is to support private sector housing delivery via SMEs.
However, 340 of the 2,300 homes cited in the statement were defined as affordable and a number of schemes supported by the Development Bank of Wales (DBW) have also been purchased either in full or part by Registered Social Landlords. DBW do not currently record the specific statistics for this.
As recommended by the Affordable Housing Taskforce, DBW is currently working with my officials to explore further opportunities to expand its involvement into social housing delivery.
