Under the Welsh Government’s proposed deposit return scheme, will producers that already qualify for the low volume exemption under the extended producer responsibility packaging scheme have to register with the Welsh deposit management organisation, and report the number and type of single use glass containers they sell?

In line with the longstanding policy of all four governments, products fall within either the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) or Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme, but not both. Producers whose products are covered by DRS in Wales will need to register and provide data to the Deposit management Organisation (DMO) so their exemption status can be verified.
