Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary set out why the Programme for Government commitment to incorporate the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Person with Disabilities was omitted from the draft Disabled People’s Rights Action Plan?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
The work of the Legislative Options Working Group (LOWG), considering how to take incorporation forward, has not yet reached completion.
However, the Disabled People’s Rights Plan provides a clear framework of actions and outcomes that are designed to support the articles detailed within the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People. These actions are closely aligned with the Welsh Government’s National Equality Objectives, ensuring a coherent approach to advancing the rights and opportunities for disabled people.
