Question
What consideration has the Welsh Government given to restoring business rates relief to 75 per cent for the retail, hospitality and leisure sector?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language
The Welsh Government has allocated more than £1bn of support through our Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rates Relief since 2020-21. This considerable temporary relief has been provided to help the businesses most affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent economic pressures to survive and recover, but it was never intended to continue indefinitely. In my statement on the Draft Budget for 2025-26, I confirmed that this would be the final year of temporary relief, providing clarity for businesses.
