Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of introducing a national early intervention specification for eating disorders in Wales, and will the Cabinet Secretary publish any analysis comparing current provision within health boards with evidence-based early intervention approaches used elsewhere in the UK?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Strategic Programme for Mental Health (SPMH) programme board is undertaking a feasibility exercise for a national early intervention eating disorder service specification for Wales.
A draft specification has been developed; the methodology has been agreed and two health boards will initially be involved in the feasibility exercise. The results will be shared with the SPMH programme board to inform next steps.
