Question
How many additional childcare practitioners will be required for the Welsh Government to meet its 20 hours of free childcare pledge?

I am working closely with officials to establish an expert steering group and a childcare taskforce in the Welsh civil service to firmly establish phased delivery of the new offer.
Expansion of the workforce is central to delivery and we are developing detailed projections with economists and analysts to outline the number of staff required and the areas in which they will be needed, working with the sector, local authorities and other partners.
Funding will be confirmed in due course through the budgetary planning processes.
