Further to WQ98519, what steps will the Welsh Government take to move away from a ‘farming by calendar’ approach?

Our Manifesto set out our commitment to implement a new science-led, outcomes based and risk-proportionate approach to managing nitrate vulnerability across catchments – moving beyond the outdated ‘farming by calendar’ approach and supporting farmers to adopt new technologies and practices to reduce agricultural water pollution. We need to understand all our options and come to a sustainable solution that is outcome focused, delivering both flexibility for farmers and better environmental outcomes for our river and marine ecosystems.
