Question
Does the Welsh Government consider it appropriate for news and media outlets operating in Wales to receive public funding, directly or indirectly, and what measures will it introduce to ensure that any such funding arrangements are reviewed and, where appropriate, discontinued in future?
Answer
Answered by Trefnydd, Chief Whip and Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport (Heledd Fychan)
A thriving, sustainable, inclusive, effective and impartial Welsh media industry is essential in ensuring that Welsh citizens are fully informed of the issues that matter to them; whether these be in their local communities, across the United Kingdom or the world.
Details on our plans as a new government for the sector will be announced in due course.
