Question
What action is the Welsh Government taking to prevent a reduction in Welsh livestock numbers?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability (Llyr Gruffydd)
The Welsh Government’s goal is to support a thriving, resilient and sustainable livestock sector that continues to produce high-quality Welsh food, underpins rural communities and contributes to our climate and nature objectives. Through the Sustainable Farming Scheme, we are supporting farmers to improve productivity, animal health and welfare, soil health and wider environmental outcomes, while ensuring the sector remains well placed to respond to future market, climate and biosecurity challenges.
