Question
Will the Cabinet Minister provide an update on plans to redevelop Old Green Roundabout in Newport?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy (Adam Price)
A scheme to redevelop Old Green Roundabout in Newport is being taken forward through the wider transport planning and delivery work set out in the South East Wales Regional Transport Plan and Regional Transport Delivery Plan. Redevelopment of the roundabout has the potential to improve access to Newport Central station and the city centre, create a more attractive and people-friendly gateway into Newport, support safe and accessible walking routes, and enable better integration between rail and bus services.
The Welsh Government has provided £2.26 million in 2026-27 to support further development of the scheme alongside wider Regional Transport Fund investment announced for the region.
