Question
What assessment has the Government made of the impact of closing junctions of the M4 through Newport?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Transport (Mark Hooper)
On 9 June, I announced a short, focused programme of work to explore measures that could make a meaningful difference to conditions on the M4 around Newport, including the potential closure of certain junctions. This work will build on the substantial body of evidence already developed by previous governments on this issue.
I will report back to Members in the autumn term, setting out the outcome of this work and the Government’s proposed way forward.
