Question
How much money has the Commission budgeted during the Seventh Senedd on subsidising the Senedd canteen?
Answer
Answered by Senedd Commission
Catering services at the Senedd are not based on price subsidies for food and items for sale, but rather on the cost of providing the services across various catering outlets.
The catering services are provided to all those using our estate including Members and their staff, Commission staff, Welsh Government Ministers and staff, public visitors and contractors working on site.
The budget for the catering provision, the majority of which relates to the canteen, is set each year as part of the annual budget motion which is voted on by the Senedd in the November preceding the financial year to which it relates
For 2026-27 the budget for ‘Catering’ is £453k.
The budget for the remainder of the Seventh Senedd is yet to be determined and will largely be influenced by the Bay 32 project, specifically what level of canteen provision is available during the refurbishment works and the agreed provision following completion.
