Question
What consideration has the Cabinet Minister given to supporting young people onto the housing ladder?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning (Siân Gwenllian)
The Welsh Government offers several schemes to help make homeownership more affordable for those who wish to purchase a home, including Help to Buy-Wales; Homebuy-Wales; and Shared Ownership-Wales.
I am taking the opportunity to review our home ownership offer to ensure it makes getting and staying on the housing ladder more affordable for all households and helps young people remain in their communities.
We have also committed to overseeing a more effective use of Section 106 agreements, and I will work with private housebuilders and local authorities to ensure we are maximising the delivery of affordable housing through the planning system.
