Question
What steps is the Welsh Government taking to encourage greater use of the NHS App by GP practices to share test results and other patient information?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
Welsh Government is working with Digital Health and Care Wales, Health Boards and GP representatives to expand the information available through the NHS Wales App, including GP record information and test results. This work is being progressed through GMS contractual arrangements and national digital programmes, ensuring delivery is clinically safe, secure and consistent across Wales
In line with our First 100 day commitments, we are also consulting with the European Commission to learn best practice from the development of their SmartCare App, with the aim of replicating its functions in the NHS Wales App. This will include exploring ways in which the interoperability of the app across all layers of the health system can be improved.
