Question
What actions is the Cabinet Minister undertaking to make focal therapies for prostate cancer available to men in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The Welsh Government and Health and Care Research Wales are in discussions with the TRANSFORM Trial team regarding the potential inclusion of Welsh patients in the study, including establishing trial sites in Wales.
I expect the NHS in Wales to deliver care in line with recommended clinical practice to ensure that patients receive clinically effective and cost-effective care. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence does not recommend focal therapy for localised prostate cancer as standard care.
