Question
What is the estimated cost of remediating the land affected by subsidence at Briton Ferry, including the closed section of the Wales Coast Path between Briton Ferry and Baglan Bay, and what is the anticipated timetable for reopening the route?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability (Llyr Gruffydd)
The closed section of Wales Coast Path between Briton Ferry and Baglan Bay is not a public right of way, therefore there is no legal requirement to repair the land and re-open the path. However, Welsh Government (as landowners) and Neath Port Talbot Council are working together to determine what options are available to repair or move the Wales Coast Path. The costs associated with this, as well as who will be responsible for funding and the anticipated timetable, will depend on the option selected.
