Question
Will the Cabinet Minister provide an update on how many gynaecological specialists operate in the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board area?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Care, Mental Health and Women’s Health (Delyth Jewell)
NHS Wales workforce statistics are published on StatsWales using recognised medical specialities. Obstetrics and gynaecology is recorded and published as a combined medical speciality, therefore separate figures for gynaecology are not available.
The latest published data show that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board employed 61.4 full-time equivalent medical staff in the obstetrics and gynaecology specialty, including 31.0 consultants.
