Question
How many individuals provided with support under the Nation of Sanctuary scheme have been deported subsequently because their asylum application was refused?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Equality (Sioned Williams)
The Welsh Government does not hold this information. Decisions on asylum applications and removals from the UK are reserved to the UK Government and administered by the Home Office. The Nation of Sanctuary approach supports people already living in Wales to access devolved services and integrate into communities; it does not determine immigration status, asylum outcomes or removals.
