Question
How many monuments or statues were removed in Wales following the Legall Review?
Answer
Answered by Trefnydd, Chief Whip and Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport (Heledd Fychan)
The Welsh Government does not hold this information. Following the audit led by Gaynor Legall, The Slave Trade and the British Empire: An Audit of commemoration in Wales, the Welsh Government published Public Commemoration in Wales: Guidance to help public bodies reach informed decisions about existing and future public commemorations. Decisions on removal or reinterpretation rest with the relevant owners or authorities.
