What consideration has the Cabinet Minister given to establishing a compensation or transition-support scheme for greyhound trainers, kennel staff, stadium employees and other workers whose livelihoods will be adversely affected by the Prohibition of Greyhound Racing (Wales) Act 2026, and when will details of any such support be published?

Enforcement costs are considered in the Explanatory Memorandum, incorporating the Regulatory Impact Assessment and Explanatory Notes, which was updated prior to Royal Assent.
Those who will be impacted by the ban deserve clarity and support. Through the Greyhound Racing Ban Implementation Group, we have ensured that those affected will have access to tailored support, including Working Wales’ ReAct+ programme, so that they have the training, advice and assistance needed to move into new opportunities.
