Question
Will the Cabinet Minister commit to engaging with and taking account of the views of medical professional bodies before introducing any significant policy changes that could affect the operation of health services?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The Welsh Government recognises the important contribution that medical professional bodies make to the development of health policy. Policy decisions are informed by a range of evidence and stakeholder perspectives, and where significant changes to health services are being considered, it is standard practice to engage with relevant stakeholders, including medical professional bodies where appropriate. The views expressed through such engagement form an important part of the information considered alongside other evidence.
