The Chair proposed writing to National Grid and the Welsh Government, and the committee then moved into private session.
Themes

- Concern for steelworkers and the local and national economy
- Correspondence with National Grid and the Welsh Government
3. Papers to Note
The committee agreed to take most papers together, but discussed paper 3.4 on Port Talbot steel separately. Members raised concern about delays linked to the national grid, and the Chair proposed writing to National Grid and the Welsh Government.
- Elwyn Vaughan (Plaid Cymru), the Chair, said concerns had been expressed before about possible delays to the Port Talbot project because of national grid issues. He suggested the committee write to reflect that view and draw it to the attention of National Grid and the Government.
- Shav Taj (Welsh Labour) declared an interest as a former general secretary of TUC Cymru and a member of Unite the Union and GMB. She said the previous committee heard from steelworkers who raised concerns about connectivity delays.
- Shav Taj said delays had been up to a year and now looked like six to eight months. She said the issue must be resolved so the electric arc furnace is running and workers know what their future looks like.
- Alun Cox (Plaid Cymru), who represents the Port Talbot area, supported writing. He said the connections matter to the wider Welsh economy and that the committee may return to the consequences for the grid at another time.
- The Chair said that, if members were in agreement, the committee would write as discussed and note the other papers.
