Summary
The public part of the Climate Change, Environment, Sustainability and Rural Affairs Committee meeting on 16 September 2026 was short and procedural. The Chair, James Evans (Reform UK), noted apologies from Paul Rock and Gareth Beer. Four Members declared interests linked to farming or agricultural land. The committee noted the papers and then went on to meet in private, so no substantive business was discussed in public.

1. Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
Good morning and welcome, everyone, to the Climate Change, Environment, Sustainability and Rural Affairs Committee. I'd like to note that the public items of this meeting are being broadcast live on Senedd.tv, for all the thousands of people who are watching us from around the world, and the Record of Proceedings will be published as usual. I note that the meeting is bilingual, so Members can communicate via Cymraeg and Saesneg if they want to. I note that I've had apologies from Paul Rock and also from Gareth Beer. I'd like to ask Members now if there are any declarations of interest. I don't see any declarations of interest—
Chair, a declaration. I'm a farmer and a director in a farming business.
