2. Papers to Note
The committee went through correspondence and papers to note. A member raised delays by National Grid, and the Chair proposed a letter to the UK Government on rail.
- Tom Montgomery (Reform UK) said he was disappointed by the continuing delay from National Grid. He said the hold-up is holding up over £1 billion of public funding for Port Talbot.
- Mr Montgomery said he would like a further update from National Grid towards the end of the year. The Chair, Elwyn Vaughan (Plaid Cymru), said the point was noted.
- Elwyn Vaughan (Plaid Cymru) said the papers at item 2.12 still show questions of clarity and consistency in the relationship with Wales on railways. He described the situation as very complex.
- Elwyn Vaughan proposed that the committee write to the Westminster Government to restate its concerns, which he said relate to the benefit of the people of Wales. He asked whether members were content and then moved on.
