Debate: The Children’s Commissioner for Wales Annual Report 2023-24
The Senedd debated the Children's Commissioner for Wales's annual report for 2023-24. Labour's motion simply noted the report. The Conservatives wanted to add points on child poverty and child abuse, and Plaid Cymru wanted to add points on austerity and child poverty targets. Both additions were rejected. The Senedd agreed the motion as written.
- Amendment 1, tabled in the name of Darren Millar
Whether to add Darren Millar's (Conservative) points regretting that around 30% of children live in poverty, backing clear child poverty targets, and asking for work on the WAVE Trust's campaign.
Rejected - Amendment 2, tabled in the name of Heledd Fychan
Whether to add Heledd Fychan's (Plaid Cymru) points blaming austerity for higher child poverty and regretting the 2016 end of the target to eradicate child poverty by 2020.
Rejected - Motion
Whether to agree Jane Hutt's motion (Welsh Labour), which only notes the Children's Commissioner's annual report, in its original form.
