Will the Cabinet Minister provide an update on what tax relief for which the Welsh Government is responsible is available for people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Finance (Elin Jones)
The Welsh Governments Council Tax Reduction Scheme (CTRS), provides significant support to low-income households across Wales, including those affected by terminal illness. More than 257,000 households currently receive support through the scheme.
In addition, local authorities have discretionary powers to reduce council tax liability where they consider it appropriate. These powers can be used to introduce locally determined discounts or exemptions, including for people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
