What guidance is the Welsh Government providing to renewable energy developers and local planning authorities to ensure communities hosting major developments receive meaningful and lasting local economic and community benefits?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy (Adam Price)
Planning Policy Wales and associated energy planning guidance encourage early and meaningful engagement with local communities and support renewable energy developments that deliver social, economic, and environmental benefits. Local planning authorities are expected to take account of these policies when considering proposals.
We are clear that communities hosting major renewable energy developments should benefit from such projects. We are developing our policy to create stronger requirements for local ownership in Wales and through our Welsh Public Energy Company we will ensure we develop more clean energy that is owned in Wales for the benefit of Wales.
