Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The Welsh Government has committed to the development of a 10-year National Cancer Strategy for Wales. It will set out an ambitious vision for cancer services and provide the NHS with the clarity it needs to achieve better outcomes and experiences for people affected by cancer.
The Strategy is being informed by one of the most extensive engagement exercises undertaken in cancer policy in Wales. A national call for evidence is currently gathering insights, perspectives and recommendations from stakeholders and the public.
The Strategy will have a particular focus on what more the NHS can do to detect cancer earlier, including support to GPs referring people for suspected cancer. The Strategy will also outline the requirements for delivering timely pathways of specialist care and improving access to clinical trials.
