What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the effectiveness of the requirement on the hospitality industry to ask all adult customers for ID, alongside track and trace contact details, when purchasing food or drink items?

Atebwyd gan Minister for Economy
We are in regular contact with industry representatives and local authorities to assess the effectiveness of guidance and compliance in re-opening the hospitality sector. We have produced guidance that instructs that in all hospitality premises, licensed and non-licensed, it is mandatory to collect contact information for all staff and adults (over 18), customers or visitors. This means collecting the person’s name and telephone number, date of visit, arrival and departure time and retaining them for 21 days. Only where a business has a concern that the data supplied could be false are they required to make reasonable efforts to request verification of ID e.g. from a driving licence.
