The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating effect on businesses. The extension of time allowed for temporary changes of use is intended provide flexibility for business to get back on their feet. It is accepted that some temporary use of land will have adverse effects on neighbouring properties such as increased traffic, noise and light pollution for a limited time up until January. Local authorities have powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to deal with any cases where a statutory nuisance exists.
