What steps is the Welsh Government taking to support an urgent increase the number of driving tests available across Wales and what conversations have officials undertaken with the DVLA to address the present backlog?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Driving tests are carried out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency DVSA and not the DVLA. DVSA is an executive agency of the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and therefore managed by the UK Government, and not under the control of the Welsh Government
Throughout the pandemic officials have been in regular discussions with the DVSA who have informed us that they will be publishing a recovery plan in early June.
