Will the Minister outline the Welsh Government’s economic plans for the higher education sector in the sixth Senedd?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Economy
We recognise the vital contribution that higher education institutions can make to Wales' economic recovery.
Our Programme for Government for the sixth Senedd sets out our commitment to build a stronger, greener economy. We will work with the higher education sector, through Universities Wales and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), to deliver on that commitment.
This year, in addition to implementation of the Degree Apprenticeship pilot and Youth Entrepreneurship and innovation programmes, we have asked the Council to enable opportunities to support graduates, furloughed workers and others negatively impacted by the pandemic with opportunities to retrain, reskill or encourage them to access higher education, perhaps for the first time.
