Further to the CCRA3 report, will the Minister outline what steps the Welsh Government is undertaking to establish and maintain a register of properties lost to coastal erosion?

Our approach to monitoring risk from coastal erosion is set out in our National Strategy. Historically, the known coastal erosion impacts have been limited in Wales with only an estimated 1.4km2 of land and a small numbers of properties to have been lost over the last 100 years.
Coastal erosion risk is shown on the National Coastal Erosion Risk Map (NCERM) which is managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW). This data is currently available on DataMapWales and will soon be incorporated into NRW’s Wales FloodMaps. Risk Management Authorities report on changes in flood and coastal erosion risk in Section 18 reports. These are produced every 2 years and published on NRW’s website.
Over the last three years the Welsh Government has provided funding to a new Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre to collate and analyse data on the changing Welsh coastline. This will help Maritime Authorities to inform decisions and priorities for coastal adaptation and potential schemes. Between 2019 and 2022 the Welsh Government will also provide £150 million of funding to the Coastal Risk Management Programme, funding local authorities for coastal adaptation and risk management schemes.
