The business case for the current phase of the South Wales Metro focussed on the electrification of the Core Valley Lines. This phase is currently being delivered by Transport for Wales and is on schedule to be completed in 2024. Future public transport service requirements and associated business cases are being developed in light of the latest research and modelling to take account of the uncertainty around future passenger numbers and travel patterns.
