What plans does the Welsh Government have to ensure the return of parkrun events?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
As of 7 August 2021 Wales completed the move to alert level 0, meaning all remaining legal restrictions on the number of people gathering both indoors and outdoors have been lifted. As such, events such as parkrun are free to go ahead, on the basis they have completed a legally required specific coronavirus risk assessment.
Organisers of parkrun have announced their 5k events in Wales will restart from 21 August. These events rely on the permission of the landowner to go ahead, and currently 45% of events are set to resume. Event organisers are negotiating for the remaining locations to return.
All junior parkrun events in Wales are already able to return, as they can operate within guidelines set out by the Welsh Government.
