Atebwyd gan Minister for Social Justice
Whilst policing in Wales is not currently devolved, we have a strong relationship with our Welsh police forces and there is regular engagement at both Ministerial and official level on a broad range of issues.
Either myself, or the First Minister, chair the Policing & Partnership Board for Wales (PPBfW). The PPBfW is an important and valuable opportunity for those with responsibility for policing in Wales to update Ministers on their key priorities and latest challenges. .
I also meet regularly with the lead Police and Crime Commissioner to share and discuss emerging community issues from across Wales.
The Welsh Government is committed to ensuring our communities are and continue to remain safe. In this financial year we are maintaining funding for 500 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) across Wales and providing financial support for a further 100 PCSOs as part of our programme for government, bringing the total to 600 PCSO’s across Wales.
To date I have not received any representations from Neath Port Talbot Council relating to anti-social behaviour (ASB). I have had reassurance from South Wales Police that steps are being taken to address the issue of anti-social behaviour in Neath town centre.
