What action is the Welsh Government taking to help Afghan refugees integrate into Welsh communities?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Social Justice
We are working collaboratively with Welsh local authorities, the Home Office, Third Sector and others to understand the likely needs of Afghan nationals arriving in our communities over the coming weeks to ensure appropriate support is made available. On 1 September the UK Government announced their ‘Operation Warm Welcome’ but we are awaiting details about whether funding will be made available to Welsh devolved services. On 6 September, the Prime Minister confirmed that he would be writing to Devolved Administrations setting out the financial details of the plan and we await that letter. Once we receive that information, we can properly set out our plans to integrate Afghan nationals. I will provide a further update in a statement to the Senedd.
