What discussions has the Welsh Government had with Natural Resources Wales regarding Rhondda Cynon Taff 's council report on flooding in Pentre during storm Dennis?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
The Deputy Minister and I have spoken with senior management of Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and the Leader and Chief Executive of Rhondda Cynon Taff Council regarding the impacts of the February 2020 flooding, the findings of the section 19 investigation report and NRW’s review of its own response to the 2020 flooding. I have asked the relevant Risk Management Authorities to work together to develop a plan of action for the community of Pentre.
Officials have had, and continue to be involved in, regular meetings involving flood leads from both NRW and Rhondda Cynon Taff Council, alongside the Leader and Chief Executive of the Local Authority.
A number of positive actions have already been progressed including undertaking repair works and upgrades to the culvert inlet in Pentre, which was the primary point of failure during Storm Dennis, and agreement between the two authorities to install flood gates to homes.
