Will the Minister confirm what action the Welsh Government is taking to assist care providers who are unable to obtain indemnity insurance?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Social Services
I am aware of the issues of rising premiums and the difficulty for many care home providers in obtaining public liability insurance cover. This a UK-wide issue and we are working closely with the Department for Health and Social Care in England and the other Devolved Governments to seek solutions.
The Association of British Insurers and the British Insurance Brokers’ Association has recently published guidance for the care sector setting out the steps providers can take to put themselves in the best position for insurance renewal or when seeking a new quotation. We have shared this useful resource with care home providers. Please see link to the guidance care-sector-steps-to-access-el-and-pl-cover.pdf (abi.org.uk)
