What measures is the Welsh Government taking to ensure best value is achieved for the Welsh taxpayer on the disposal/sale of Welsh Government assets?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Finance and Local Government
I am committed to the sale of our assets achieving the best possible outcomes for the people of Wales.
Guidance for the disposal of surplus Welsh Government property assets can be found here:
Guidance for the Identification and Disposal of Welsh Government Non-Core Surplus Land and Buildings
Where properties are surplus to Welsh Government requirements, my officials review the options for disposal, which includes potential uses that provide value in terms of key policy aims - for example delivering affordable housing, enhancing biodiversity, creating our national forest, or providing new employment opportunities.
Surplus assets are offered to the public sector in advance of being offered in the wider market to maximise the opportunity of achieving public value aims. Disposals are also supported by an independent verification that the terms represent value for money.
