What assessments have been undertaken to determine the power generation potential for solar technology in Wales?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
A number of assessments have been made of the solar resource available in Wales, and the potential for solar PV to contribute to our future renewable energy mix. The most recent of these were desktop assessments conducted as part of the four regional energy strategies. These were arrived at by balancing the region’s ambition against the available resources, investment requirement and potential grid capacity. The strategies for the Cardiff Capital Region, Mid Wales and North Wales are published on our website and we intend to publish the fourth document covering Swansea Bay City Region shortly.
Our investment in local area energy plans will provide greater granularity in terms of identifying opportunities to match renewable energy to local demand.
